Hugh Stanley at the age of 16 years, was examined by the minister at Gravesend, and embarked the Thomas Henry Taverner which sailed between the dates 21st August 1635 and 2nd of September 1635, and was transported to Virginia. Ref. 1

Hugh's origins have not been determined - the IGI does not not have a matching baptism record. Note - Hugh Stanley of Storeton is unlikely to be Hugh Stanley of Maryland.

  • John Stanley - his brother
  • John Stanley and Edward Stanley, the two sons of his brother John Stanley
  • Thirteen hundred and fifty acres in Putkomoke (Pocomoke)
  • Two thousand pounds of tobacco and cask
  • Sabina Frances el Farob - the child he keeps
  • Commissioners of Calvert County Court
  • Executor - Dorothy Stanley - his wife
  • signed by Hugh Stanley
  • Witnesses - John Owen, Margaret Weekes, Roger Blackhurst

Notes -

  1. Calvert County - is south east of Washington DC, south of Annapolis, on a peninsular bounded by the Patuextent and Chesapeake
  2. Pocomoke - in Somerset county - between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic
